The Legacy Awards 2023

The Legacy Awards is a celebration of Black excellence. The 90 - minute live show honors the work of burgeoning and established Black Canadians in film, television, sports, music and arts. The initiative was launched in Decebmer 2020 by Canadian actors and brothers, Shamier Anderson (Bruised) and Stephan James (If Beale Street Could Talk), founders of The Black Academy. The platform aims to elevate Black talent and build momentum in Canada’s entertainment industry.

The Black Academy in collaboration with CBC, Insight Productions, and Bay Mills Studio is preparing to execute the second instalment of The Legacy Awards, slated for Sunday, September 24, 2023 at 8 p.m. (9p.m. AT/ 9:30p.m. NT). The event will be hosted by the sensational singer and award-winning TV host, Keishia Chante at the Live Nation Canada’s HISTORY.
